Fibro Friday: Fibro Note

For all you FM sufferers (and friends and family), I am going to start putting a "Fibro Note" at the bottom of some of my posts.  I have a great mask of letting people think I am doing great and feeling fine, when inside I am falling apart.  People may see some of the activities I do with my family and wonder how the Fibro plays in.  So even though I may post something great we did, the Fibro Note will follow up with how my Fibro was affected or how I was feeling, etc.  It's just to give a personal insight as to how I really was feeling and to show that this is a real thing.

Fibro Note:  As I am typing this I am actually feeling good.  Just got up from a nap, so that is always a good thing :).

Kidism

I was putting Little A. to bed the other night and as she was holding her baby doll she said,

"this is my baby and he is my sister!"

Woo Hoo 100!!!

I did it, I have blogged 100 posts.  Doesn't seem like a lot, but then wow, I have talked about 100 things.  I definitely use my blog to help journal our life, but I also hope I can be an encouragement to other moms, to Fibromyalgia suffers, and to other Fibromyalgia moms.

So thanks friends for tuning in and reading about our life.  Hope that some way I have been able to encourage you.  Let's see how many followers I can get, so tell your friends and pass me along :).

Fibro Friday: Serotonin

Have you ever heard of Serotonin Syndrome?  Well, neither had I.  My new psychiatrist nurse practitioner (didn't even know that had those, but she seems to be really good), noticed that a lot of my medications had serotonin in them.  I am not talking just about anti-depressants, but some of my sleeping and pain meds have serotonin also.  My new psych was shocked that no other doctor or pharmacy had told me about it or to watch for it.

As she read through the symptoms of what it can cause, I noticed that I had some of the symptoms.  Now these symptoms could also be attributed to something else, but it was worth noting them.  If not watched, Serotonin Syndrome can turn very severe or even fatal.  So my psych lowered one medication to reduce some of the serotonin and to also be cautious in case I start any new meds that might also have serotonin in them.  You might check your meds just to see exactly what's in them, really makes you think.

Symptoms can include:
  • Agitation or restlessness
  • Confusion
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Dilated pupils
  • Loss of muscle coordination or twitching muscles
  • Heavy sweating
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Shivering
  • Goose bumps

Reading?

For the first time in FOREVER, I actually was trying to get the girls put to bed early so I could read in bed.  I am not a all-the-time reader.  Over the years it has been more of a here-and-there thing.  But we are reading an AWESOME book that our neighbor recommended (a blog on this will be coming as soon as I am done reading the book).  ML and I are just loving the book as we read it together but separately.  It is also a self-help type of book, which I usually really love (crazy, I know, but it's the psychology part of my brain.)

Stay tuned for a review and a recommendation that you MUST read this book.

Shout Out!

As I am sitting here exhausted and trying to get ready for a night and full day without ML, I think of all of the military wives.  WOW, you are amazing women.  I just don't know how you do it.  One of my criteria while looking for a mate was that he could not be military (even though I did date a military man for a short time).  I am just one of those women that needs my hubby to be around while we raise kids.

So YEAAAHHHH for you Military Moms!  I hope you have a bit of respite soon and I am done feeling sorry for myself.  Thank you for making such a sacrifice just like your husbands are doing.

Latest Find

Ok, so you know that I love a great find.  Another thing is that I am always looking for closed storage for our home.  We tend to have clutter that we don't know what to do with, shocking I know.  I once had a professional decorator tell me that closed storage is the way to go.  Meaning something with shelves and drawers, but then doors to close it off.  That way you can store your clutter and stuff and it looks nice and pretty on the outside.

Once again, Craigs came to my rescue.  I found, what I think, is an AWESOME find.  We only had to drive 60 miles round trip to get it, but totally worth it.  The man said he thought they called it a side board, I kinda think it could be a buffet also.  But no matter what it is I LOVE IT!  It looks great in the space that I put it compared to what was there.  I also love that it is taller, keeping things out of reach from little hands.

I put it with my new favorite frame (this months Bunco win), a favorite childhood saying, and roses from my rose bush.  The piece just has beautiful diamond detail and when you open it there is TONS of storage.  It still has original tags on it, but there is no year or price.  I know that it is kinda old or older than me :).  I already have it about 1/3 filled.  I am looking forward to enjoying this for a long time.

Bed Time Friend

I will admit we have 4 cats, yes, that's what I said...4.  Two of them are just a year old and still allow the girls to "play" with them.  Little A. just loves to hold them, but the cat's hate it.  A. likes to take one of them and try and hold them like a baby, put them to bed, push them in the stroller, etc.  The other night I go into cover her up for bed time and this is what I found:

Bug Drama

It's that time of year my girls start freaking out, literally.  And they have now freaked out Little A. enough that she cries every night at bed and pulls her covers up to her chin and hides.  She calls me in over and over saying "Mommy I need you" as she points at invisible bugs that she thinks are in her room.  We aren't talking about spiders or scorpions or mosquitoes, we are talking FLIES!  Regular flies and crane flies.

I mean seriously, FLIES!  Now I can understand why crane flies might look scary, but we have explained that they are harmless.  Unlike we thought, they don't eat mosquitoes.  They basically just fly around, doing nothing.  Adults don't even eat, they just mate and lay eggs. (Boy wouldn't that kinda be fun :).

Our sympathy is gone for the big girls and we really wish they would stop scary their little sister.  I mean GET OVER the flies!  They are JUST flies.

Fibro Friday: Earthquake?

On Easter Sunday the most amazing thing happened here in Arizona, we had an earthquake.  Or should I say we felt the earthquake that was centered in Mexico all the way in Arizona.  It was amazing and the reason why I am putting it on a Fibro Friday is because I thought it was my Fibro and not an earthquake.  Silly I know, but we didn't realize what was happening until at least 10 seconds into it.
I had been bending over sweeping and picking up a few items.  And when I stood up and got myself centered I started swaying and became really dizzy and nauseous.  I thought I had just been bending over too long or had stressed my body too much.  And then I realized that everyone else was feeling it too.
Wow, it was such a crazy feeling.  Last time I felt it I was probably 5 or 6.  I don't really remember the crazy feeling just that everything was shaking.  And thank the Lord that no one was injured or we had any damage.

Kidism

Last night we here Little A. screaming/yelling:

"NO G. THIS IS FOR JESUS!

Turns out she was talking about a Jesus movie.

We took the girls to lunch after church and the girls got balloons.  E. accidentally lost hers and away it flew.  Surprisingly, E. took a complete positive spin on it (after only a little bit of whining) and said
"well, I just gave Jesus a present on Easter."

It made me smile that my positiveness is growing on my girls, always gotta look on the bright side of things.

He Is Risen!

Happy Easter Friends!  Easter is a Holiday full of reflecting.   Reflecting on God's ultimate sacrifice for us and His amazing love.  May to take today to realized what God has done for you by sending His Son to die on the cross for us.  And think of it this way: did you know that even if you were the only person on this earth, Jesus would have still died just for YOU?

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.

Mark 16:1-8
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "
Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.
